The Multidisciplinary Center for the Treatment of Endometriosis at Carmel Medical Center, Haifa, Israel
The Multidisciplinary Center for the Treatment of Endometriosis was founded and is headed by Dr Yuval Kaufman, a Senior Consultant at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Carmel Medical Center. The center treats patients from all parts of Israel who suffer from endometriosis as well as other frequent adjoining gynecological conditions such as uterine fibroids and uterine malformations. This includes patients who are suspected having endometriosis but have not yet been diagnosed, patients diagnosed with endometriosis who need medical or surgical treatment and patients who are already under treatment that need surveillance and further treatment including complementary treatments such as diet and alternative medicine.
The center was established as part of the Gynecological Endoscopic Unit in Carmel Medical Center. The Endoscopic unit has been performing a wide variety of advanced laparoscopic procedures in a capacity of hundreds of operations each year for the last 20 years since its establishment. This includes hundreds of endometriosis operations a year.
Comprehensive and successful surgical treatment of endometriosis requires both state of the art endoscopic equipment as well as advanced surgical skills. The Multidisciplinary Center for the Treatment of Endometriosis in collaboration with the Gynecological Endoscopic Unit at Carmel has both.
